Are Olsen is leading the work on the Science Case for EuroGO-SHIP: numerical modelling (T4.1). He is a professor in biogeochemistry at the University of Bergen and Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research. Are’s research deals with the efficiency with which the ocean absorbs CO2 from man-made emissions, and he also works with other biogeochemical topics, such as primary production, nutrients and isotopes. Although specializing in observations, he often collaborates with numerical modelers. Are has been deeply engaged in the quest for making marine biogeochemical observations more accessible, via SOCAT and GLODAP.
