Vasile-Sorin Balan began his research career in 2001 at the Constanța branch of GeoEcoMar, working in the Geochemistry lab. He has consistently been involved in numerous national and international projects, either as a coordinator or a collaborator. He has a strong competency in conducting complex investigations of geochemical and physicochemical characterization of water columns and sediments in both marine and freshwater environments. Sorin has participated in numerous Oceanographic national and international cruises, during of which he was responsible for CTD measurements. He has also undertaken the study of greenhouse gas flows (CH4, CO2, and N2O) at the water-to-air interface in marine and lake environments, as well as the ground-to-air interface within the land environment.
