Yvonne is a physical oceanographer specialising in making in situ observations, particularly from ships, and using them to measure and understand ocean dynamics on a range of scales. Her recent research ranges from detecting trends in Southern Ocean transports of heat and carbon, to understanding the roles of salinity and temperature variability in water mass transformation in the Subpolar North Atlantic. For EuroGO-SHIP she is involved in Work Package 2 including work on expanding secondary quality control, and in Work Package 3 as the salinity parameter expert to gather evidence on the effect of practical differences in procedures, develop a framework for an updated salinity measurement best practice, and pilot skills-sharing related to calibration of salinity data through collaborations with other EuroGO-SHIP partners.
