EuroGO-SHIP WP4 – ESA/CEOS

EuroGO-SHIP WP4 colleagues Richard Sanders, Angelina Smilenova (NORCE) and Tim Smyth (PML) met with members of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS), under the European Space Agency (ESA). This stakeholder meeting was a follow up to an early meeting with members of the ESA/CEOS Working Group on Calibration and Validation (WGCV) that took place January. We touched upon the possibility for a cooperation with respect to providing ship-based measurements (e.g., underway CO₂, ocean colour, altimetry) for ESA projects and programmes. The discussions focused on how the EuroGO-SHIP project may be able to contribute  data. The ESA/CEOS colleagues noted the need for good quality in-situ data, and equally important, data availability. As in our first meeting with ESA/CEOS colleagues, we received a lot of “food for thought” and firm plans to continue the dialogue in the future.
